A priest from Donegal has said people should object when they hear others use the Lord’s name in vain.
Fr Phillip Kemmy told his parishioners in Letterkenny that they should make their feelings clear to individuals and media groups if they find the use of the name ‘Jesus’ being used in a manner offensive to them.
He said he was not advocating a “big campaign” about the issue but if people felt strongly they should take action.
“If somebody is using bad language, why don’t you say ‘please stop using that language in my presence, I am offended by it’.”
They should also make their objections known when coarse language is used in the media, Fr Kemmy added.
